For Early Detection of Breast Cancer

Mammography is an X-ray examination specifically for the breast tissue. It is the most sensitive test for detecting breast cancer that cannot be felt by touch, allowing for a clear view of the inside of the breast.

What is Mammography?

  • It is an X-ray imaging of the breast.
  • The breast is stretched and compressed for imaging.
  • It makes it easier to detect lesions compared to ultrasound (breast echo) or palpation.

*Performing both mammography and breast ultrasound examinations increases the accuracy of breast cancer detection. We recommend undergoing both tests.

How is the imaging done?

  • Imaging time is about 15 minutes (2 views for each breast).
  • Imaging is performed by a female technician. *Consultation may be performed by a male doctor.
  • The captured images are double-checked by two specialists.

What are the benefits of Mammography?

  • It is the most sensitive method for detecting non-palpable breast cancer.
  • It can detect early-stage breast cancer (calcifications) that cannot be felt as lumps.
  • Annual imaging allows for comparison over time using the images.
  • It is particularly effective for individuals with large breasts or high subcutaneous fat, where ultrasound may not provide adequate images.
